How to choose your tennis shoes
- Court surface. Hard court and all-court shoes have a tough outsole made for abrasive surfaces. Clay court shoes have a tread pattern that grips clay and sheds it as you move. If you mostly play on hard courts, choose an all-court or hard court model.
- Fit. Look for a secure heel and midfoot with a little room at the toes. Tennis is full of quick side to side moves, so your foot shouldn’t slide inside the shoe. Wide fit models are available in selected styles.
- Sizing. Sizing can differ between brands, so check the sizes listed on each product.
- When to replace. Once the tread wears smooth or the cushioning feels flat, it’s time for a new pair.
